Covid-19 vaccination policies update

To the Community of York Professional Care & Education,

In accordance with the Public Health Canada, COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It first emerged in late 2019 and quickly spread worldwide, resulting in a global pandemic.   All York Professional Care and Education employees have taken every precaution available in the circumstances for the protection of the children, families and other educators.

The Executive Director of York Professional Care and Education has approved the Rescindment of the Infectious Disease Policy and Procedures: Part 1 to 4 as of March 20, 2024.  The mandatory policy was a key part of the Agency’s overall strategy and commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment, while continuing to provide care for all families within the community.  Until recently, York Professional Care and Education has maintained compliant to their Covid-19 vaccination policies.

By rescinding this policy, new hires will no longer be required to provide proof of vaccination and existing employees who are unvaccinated will no longer be required to perform regular Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT).  York Professional Care and Education employees continue to be encouraged to modify their behaviours based on their own risk tolerance.  This includes frequent hand washing, physical distancing when possible or required and staying home when unwell.  Masking remains appropriate in some circumstances.
