ABOUT YORK PROFESSIONAL CARE & EDUCATION

York Professional Care & Education (YPCE) is a not-for-profit organization committed to helping individuals recognize and develop their potential, demonstrate good values and make a positive contribution to an inclusive society, while experiencing learning in the outdoors by connecting through land.

YPCE is governed by a diverse team of board members.  These individuals form the Board of Directors and are committed to quality child care and making a positive impact on children’s lives within the community.

The Board of Directors ensure that the organization’s goals are clearly set forth and attained; and are accountable for its standards and viability.  Volunteering for a Board position offers the chance to build new skills that an individual may wish to develop, while sharing your strengths for the benefit of the organization.

EXPECTATIONS OF YPCE BOARD MEMBERS

  • Work as a team member and actively support Board decisions
  • Ensuring decisions are made in the best interest of the children and families
  • Valid and clear Vulnerable Sector Check completed every 5 years
  • Willingness to commit time for YPCE special events
  • Collaborating with Board members to maintain high-quality care standards
  • The Board of Directors, along with the Executive Director, ensure that all programs meet their legal obligations and requirements.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF YPCE BOARD MEMBERS

  • Provide leadership, governance and be accountable to other members of the Board and organization
  • Developing long-term strategic goals
  • Attend regular scheduled meetings which will support the current and future interests of the organization.
  • Approve budgets and monitor financial performances
  • Selecting, evaluating and supporting the Executive Director
  • Representing and advocating YPCE in the community
  • Attend and participate in the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
